St Edmund Hall Library
The library of St. Edmund College is housed within a 10th-century church. My mind is boggled by the realization that I am locking my bike against a wall constructed a thousand years ago. The very same stones supporting my bicycle witnessed the lives, struggles, and joys of so many generations. While I was sketching this place, in the street behind me, some demonstrators were chanting and loudly drumming, expressing concerns about an upcoming apocalypse or something similar. These old stones and all the history they've endured should help them put things in perspective.
